Nate Janis

Actor | Singer

The Short story

Nate Janis is a New York-based performer. He is a graduate of Yale College and the William Esper Studio, and is currently pursuing his MFA in Acting at the Columbia University School of the Arts.

A versatile actor and singer, Nate has performed all over the world and at venues such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. He’s been lucky to study with some of the world’s greatest acting teachers, including William Esper and Ron Van Lieu, and is as comfortable with Shakespeare and Sondheim as he is with Shepard and Sorkin. Favorite roles he has played include: Leo Frank in Parade, Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing, and Joe in Balm in Gilead. Dream roles include: Prince Hal/Henry V, Skye Masterson, and Bud Parker in the (somehow not yet written) musical adaptation of Pleasantville

When not acting, he enjoys teaching, eating, cheesy 80’s movies, discovering new playwrights, binging political think pieces, and Scrubs.
